Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Kiki Technologies is a home security company operated out of Zurich, Switzerland. We build the Kiki Terminal, a local, privacy-first camera system that keeps your footage on your own hardware, and the companion Kiki app for Android and iOS.

2. What data we collect

Account data: When you register, we store your email address and a hashed (bcrypt) version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.

Device data: Your Kiki Terminal sends periodic heartbeat pings to our servers so your dashboard can show online/offline status, storage stats, and last-seen time. No video or audio is included in these pings.

Push notifications: If you enable push notifications in the app, we store your device's push token (Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android, Apple Push Notification service on iOS) so we can deliver detection alerts to you. The token only identifies the app installation on your device and contains no video or audio.

Detection notifications: If you enable email alerts, we receive a GIF snapshot and detection metadata (class, confidence, timestamp) from your terminal in order to send you the alert email. These are not stored on our servers beyond the time needed to deliver the email.

Kiki Anywhere: Remote access is established via an encrypted peer-to-peer WireGuard tunnel. Your live footage travels directly between your device and your Kiki Terminal. It does not pass through or get stored on our servers.

3. The Kiki app and device permissions

The Kiki app is a companion to your Kiki Terminal. It only requests the permissions its features need, and we use them solely for the stated purpose:

• Notifications: to show you detection alerts.
• Microphone: for the two-way talk feature, which streams your voice live to your terminal. We do not record this audio or store it on our servers.
• Local network / Wi-Fi: during first-time setup only, to find your terminal on your home network and briefly connect to the terminal's Wi-Fi setup hotspot. The app does not request location permission and does not track your location.

4. Payments

Purchases (hardware and the Kiki Anywhere subscription) are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. Your card details are entered directly on Stripe's secure checkout page and handled by Stripe. Kiki never receives or stores your full card number. We store only order and subscription status and related billing metadata (e.g. email address, amount, subscription state) to manage your account.

5. What we do not collect

• We do not upload, store, or have access to your video recordings.
• We do not collect or track your location.
• We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for advertising.
• We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics on this site.

6. Where your data is stored

Account and device data is stored on our server infrastructure. Your recordings, detection events, and camera streams are stored exclusively on your Kiki Terminal hardware at your home. Never on our servers.

7. Email communications

We send transactional emails only: account setup confirmation, order and billing emails, and detection alert emails if you have enabled them. We do not send marketing emails.

Emails to [email protected] are forwarded to our team and are not stored on third-party systems beyond standard email delivery.

8. Data retention and deletion

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. We process deletion requests within 30 days.

9. Your rights (GDPR / nFADP)

As a Swiss-based company serving European customers, we respect your rights under the GDPR and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP). You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected].

10. Children

The Kiki app and our services are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
